Journalist Sarwar Uddin dies at 78

Senior journalist Mr. Sarwar Uddin Ahmed (78) has passed away while undergoing treatment at a city hospital in Chattogram yesterday.. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and one son.

His funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janaza) will be held (Sunday) at 11:00 AM at the Sikdar Ghata Eidgah in Raozan.

Mr. Ahmed was a member of the Chattogram Metropolitan Journalists’ Union and the Chattogram Press Club, as well as the President of the Raozan Press Club.

Born in Sultanpur village under Raozan Municipality, Chattogram, he completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Karachi, Pakistan.

During his long 55-year professional career, he served 17 consecutive years as an Executive Officer at the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation.

Later, he worked for several newspapers, including The Daily Chronicle, The Unity, The Financial Express, Daily News Today, The Daily Life, and The New Nation.

He also held positions as News Editor at The Daily People’s View, The Economic Times, and The Daily Commercial Times.
