Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured the public today that the government would ensure the trial of individuals involved in recent rape incidents. He emphasized that the accused would be held accountable and brought to justice.

Chowdhury made these remarks during a visit to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, where he met with the minor girl who was gang-raped in Magura. The child is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Home Adviser instructed law enforcement agencies to take strict action against harassment and violence towards women, particularly in cases of rape. He also directed authorities to expedite investigations into all reported incidents of violence against women and submit reports to the court without delay.

During the visit, Chowdhury was briefed on the victim’s condition and urged the hospital to provide the best possible care. Senior officials from CMH were also present during the visit.

Chowdhury reaffirmed that women must be able to carry out their duties without fear or hesitation, both at home and in society. He stressed that perpetrators of violence would face severe consequences.

Earlier, on March 6, the Home Adviser contacted the victim’s mother by phone, expressing his concern and ensuring that the child would receive the best medical treatment. The victim, an eight-year-old girl, was transferred to CMH from Dhaka Medical College Hospital the previous day.

A case has been filed with the Magura Sadar Police Station, accusing four individuals of raping and attempting to murder the girl.

The Home Adviser concluded by stating that the Ministry of Home Affairs remains vigilant, and no one involved in such crimes will escape justice. He urged the public to stay mindful of the importance of family, social, and moral values in preventing violence against women.
