 I was able to complete 55 years of my journalism in the hills for your love  —–AKM Maqsud Ahmed

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan said that journalist AKM Maqsud Ahmed is a living legend of the hills. It is through him that the world of news has reached the three hill districts including Rangamati. Maqsud Ahmed’s efforts advanced the Chittagong Hill Tracts a lot in various fields. His contribution from print media to the era of electronic media in the Chittagong Hill Tracts will be remembered forever in the history of CHT.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan made these observations while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and reception organized by the Press Club on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of journalism of veteran journalist AKM Maksud Ahmed, a roving journalist of the Chittagong Hill Tracts and editor of the Daily Giridarpan newspaper.

Rangamati Press Club President Md. Sakhawat Hossain Rubel chaired the event while Md. Anwarul Haque, general secretary moderated it.

 

Among others  District Headquarters Zone Commander Lt. Col. Ershad Hossain Chowdhury PSC, District ASU Commander Major Rafiqul Islam, District Superintendent of Police Dr. SM Farhad Hossain, Refugee Affairs Task Force Officer Krishna Chandra Chakma, District Jamaat General Secretary Maulana Jahangir Alam, Senior Staff Reporter Wadud of Dainik Ittefaq, Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Sabuj Chakma, Khagrachari Press Club President Tarun Bhattacharya, Dainik Sangbad Hill Correspondent Sunil Kanti Dey, Rangamati Reporters Unity President Sushil Prasad Chakma and various journalist leaders of the district upazila were present.

‘Once it was very difficult to do journalism in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, because journalists did not have much logistic support at that time. Despite such difficult times, journalist Maqsud Ahmed has been moving forward very successfully till date and he is a successful person in various fields including journalism in the hills’, the chief guest added

“The role of journalists in the development of the Chittagong Hill Tracts is immense and they perform their professional duties under pressure”, Lt. Col. Ershad Hossain Chowdhury PSC, Zone Commander of the District Headquarters Zone, said as he pointed out that Such a talented personality like AKM Maqsud Ahmed is very much necessary for the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Alhaj AKM Maqsud Ahmed who was the focus of the program said that he could complete his 55 years of journalism in the hills because of people’s love .

“It is unimaginable that I have completed 55 years of journalism in the hills. Without everyone’s prayers and infinite mercy of Allah, 55 years would never have passed”, he added as he expressed gratefulness to those who extended him support in various fields .

Later, various journalist organizations and local social organizations felicitated AKM Maksud Ahmed on completing 55 years in journalism.
