In the first 15 days of February 2025, Bangladesh has received a significant remittance inflow of 131.23 million US dollars through legal channels, amounting to approximately 16,140 crore Bangladeshi Taka (based on an exchange rate of 123 Taka per US dollar). On average, the country has been receiving remittances of 8.74 million dollars or 107.6 crore Taka daily.

This information was revealed in the latest updated report from Bangladesh’s central bank, published on Sunday, February 16.

According to the central bank’s data, the remittance has been received through various channels: 46.65 million dollars via state-owned banks, 8.88 million dollars through a specialized bank, 75.39 million dollars through private banks, and 3 million dollars from foreign banks.

Looking at the overall picture for the current fiscal year (2024-2025), from July to February 15, Bangladesh has received a total of 1,727.4 million US dollars in remittances.

A breakdown of remittance inflows over the months shows that in July, remittances amounted to 191.37 million dollars, in August it was 222.13 million dollars, in September it reached 240.41 million dollars, October saw 239.5 million dollars, November brought in 220 million dollars, December saw 264 million dollars, and in January, 219 million dollars were remitted by expatriates.

This consistent inflow of over 2 billion dollars in remittances every month since the formation of the interim government reflects the strong and steady support from Bangladeshi expatriates, with a total of more than 2 billion dollars sent home for six consecutive months.
