Bangladesh army has requested people to contact the nearest army camp if anyone faces any sabotage activities, violence and death threats. The Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) issued a media release in this regard on Wednesday. At least 6 prisoners have died while 239 others have fled Kashimpur High Security Central Jail and Kusthia District Jail amid reports of violence in the aftermath of Sheikh Hasina’s fall. 209 inmates have fled Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, Gazipur, while six escapees have been killed by security personnel during the incident. Businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun, a friend and business associate of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, has been granted bail. A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to Mamun in a loan default case, said his lawyer Jahedul Islam Koel. He will be freed from Kashimpur jail shortly, he said. Mamum was arrested on January 31, 2007 during the military-backed caretaker government’s term, and was in jail since then. There are various cases against him which include extortion, corruption, money laundering and tax evasion.
