Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed for Doha this evening to participate in the Earthna Summit 2025, set to take place on April 22 and 23.

The Chief Adviser, along with his delegation, boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7pm, according to Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said Prof Yunus will have a packed schedule during his four-day official visit to Qatar, undertaken at the invitation of the country’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

During his stay, Prof Yunus is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Earthna Summit and attend multiple high-level meetings, including with the Amir of Qatar and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed. He will also engage with representatives of Qatar Charity and the Qatar Foundation, and is set to appear in an interview with Al Jazeera.

As part of ongoing energy cooperation, discussions are expected on expanding collaboration in the LNG sector, Alam noted. Prof Yunus will also take part in an investment summit on April 23 and address a key conference on the Rohingya crisis, which will bring together international stakeholders.

Accompanying the Chief Adviser are several high-level officials, including Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and SDG Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed.

Prof Yunus is scheduled to return to Dhaka in the early hours of April 25.
