The death toll from the horrific road accident in Lohagara upazila, Chattogram, has risen to 11 after a woman succumbed to her injuries on Friday while receiving treatment.

Taslima Islam Prema, who was undergoing care at the ICU of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), passed away around 12:00 pm, according to Brig. Gen Md Taslim Uddin, director of the hospital.

The crash occurred on Wednesday morning when a bus and two microbuses collided on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Chunti area of Lohagara.

The collision left seven people dead at the scene and seven to eight others injured. Four of the injured were transferred to CMCH due to their critical conditions, with two dying later that day while under treatment.

On Friday, another person died from their injuries, and one more remains under medical care at the hospital. All the victims were passengers in the microbuses, which were traveling from Kishoreganj to Cox’s Bazar.

This tragic incident comes just days after a separate deadly crash on March 31 in the same area, which resulted in five deaths and six injuries. In just three days, two fatal accidents in Lohagara have claimed 15 lives.
