A complaint against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been filed with the investigation agency of the International Criminal Tribunal on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.

Supreme Court lawyer Gazi MH Tamim made the application today on behalf of Md Bulbul Kabir, father of Arif Ahmed Siam, a student who succumbed to his injuries two days later, after being shot by police during the anti-discrimination student movement in Savar on August 5.

The complaint has been filed to the Coordinator of the International Criminal Tribunal’s investigation agency. Also, an application was submitted to register the complaint for taking investigative action against the accused under Section 8 of the International Criminal Tribunal Act, 1973.

In the petition, it has been said that those who were killed or injured during July 15 to August 5 across Bangladesh, and later died on different dates will be covered under this.

Another case has been filed against 30 people including Awami League president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan and some members of law enforcement agencies on charge of abducting a lawyer from Uttara around nine years back.

Supreme Court lawyer Sohel Rana, a victim of enforced disappearance, lodged the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury.

Taking the allegations into cognizance, the court ordered Wattara West police station to record it.

Moreover, the ousted Prime Minister and 24 others have been sued in connection with the murder of Foyzul Islam Rajon, an 18-year-old student from Dhaka Model Degree College in Kafrul. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday by Rajon’s brother, Rajib, at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir’s court.

The court accepted the complaint and instructed Kafrul police to register it as a First Information Report (FIR).

Former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, former Road, Transport and Bridges Minister and AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Information State Minister  Mohammad Ali Arafat including some ministers of the ousted government, State Ministers and Members of Parliament, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former Additional Inspector General of Police and Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Chief Harun-ar Rashid, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman and some other police officers and members, leaders and workers of Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League and AL’s other affiliated organizations with some RAB officers and members were accused of genocide and crimes against humanity in the complaint.

In addition to the plaintiff and other witnesses, reports published in various media from last July 16 to August 6 were attached with necessary documents.

Further proceedings will be conducted after the probe report is submitted to the Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal.
