Rotary’s MDCHPC Special Conference in Ctg

Committee celebrates legacy of late PDG Commodore M. M. Rahman and PDG A. B. M. Wadud Ullah while reviewing ongoing poverty-fighting initiatives.

Multi-District Combat Hunger Project Committee (MDCHPC) held a special conference on Friday, 21 November 2025, at the Abdul Khalek Hall of Chattogram Press Club.

The event was attended by Rotarian Dr. Istiak Abiduzzaman, Country Coordinator and Rotary International President’s Special Assistant (RIPSA) Bangladesh, as chief guest while .MDCHPC Chairman PDG Magfur Uddin Ahmed, MPH, B, MD presided..

Ruhela Khanum, Vice-Chairperson of MDCHPC (PDG-3282), and Rotarian PP A. F. Neshar Uddin, MD, Secretary of MDCHPC were special guests on the occasion..

As part of the proceedings, posthumous lifetime achievement awards were presented to late PDG Commodore M. M. Rahman, PSC, MPH (RC Agrabad), and late PDG A. B. M. Wadud Ullah, PHF (RC Chattogram), in recognition of their exceptional contributions to MDCHPC.

Since the awardees’ family members were absent, the respective Rotary club presidents received the honors on their behalf.

During the conference, PDG Magfur Uddin Ahmed highlighted the origins, objectives, and mission of MDCHPC, as well as its loan programs, monitoring activities, and internal club leadership initiatives.

He emphasized that since the launch of this Rotary International program in 1993–94, it has been providing interest-free, collateral-free, fixed-term loans primarily aimed at poverty alleviation. “To date, around 55,000 families in Bangladesh have benefited from the program, with loans ranging from BDT 10,000 to 1,000,000, disbursed through participating Rotary clubs” he said.

Rotarian PP A. F. Neshar Uddin also presented a brief overview of the committee’s current projects and performance.

The event was organized and moderated by MDCHPC Joint Secretary and RC Islamabad Rotarian PP Osman Gani Monsur.

Other speaking and present at the conference include senior Rotarians Shaukat Hossain (FCA), Ustad Capt. Azizul Islam, Mujibur Rahman, Shafiqul Alam Khan, Dr. Asif Iqbal, PP Farhadul Islam, Zaheda Akter Mita, H. Ferdous, Khandakar Md. Emdadur Rahman, Jannatul Ferdous, M. Omar Al Faisal, Ashraful Alam, Ziaul Hossain, and Afia Khatun Mita
