The Government of Bangladesh has decided to award the prestigious Ekushey Padak 2025 to 14 distinguished citizens and the Bangladesh Women’s National Football Team, in recognition of their significant contributions to various fields, including the Language Movement, arts, literature, and more.
The names of the nominees for the ‘Ekushey Padak’ were announced on Thursday by the Ministry of Culture.
The recipients of this year’s ‘Ekushey Padak’ include:
- In the field of Film: Azizur Rahman (posthumously)
- In the field of Music: Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) and Ferdous Ara
- In the field of Photography: Nasir Ali Mamun
- In the field of Painting: Rokeaya Sultana
- In Journalism: Mahfuz Ullah (posthumously)
- In Journalism and Human Rights: Mahmudur Rahman
- In Culture and Education: Dr. Shahidul Alam
- In Education: Dr. Niyaz Zaman
- In Science and Technology: Mehedi Hasan Khan
- In Social Service: Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously)
- In Language and Literature: Helal Hafiz (posthumously), Shahidul Zahir (Mohammad Shahidul Haque) (posthumously)
- In Research: Maidul Hasan
Additionally, the Bangladesh Women’s National Football Team has been nominated for the award in the sports category.
This year’s Ekushey Padak recipients have been recognized for their invaluable contributions to the nation, and their achievements will be celebrated as part of the country’s ongoing recognition of excellence.
